Former Galway Minor hurler David Burke was on hand this week for the launch of the 2026 Electric Ireland GAA All-Ireland Minor Championships, as the long-running championship sponsor unveiled a new campaign celebrating the enduring effect of Minor competition on players across the country.

The campaign, under the longer-running theme of #ThisIsMajor, will be published throughout the summer across Electric Ireland’s social media channels and will focus on the role that playing at the Minor level can have in developing young people both on and off the field.

As part of the initiative, former Minor stars from the past 15 years will be paired with current players competing in this year’s Championships, offering insights into their experiences of the competition and the influence it has had on their sporting journeys and wider lives.

Burke, who progressed from Minor success with Galway to become one of the county’s leading senior players, was among those involved in the launch and highlighted the importance of the grade in developing players at a pivotal stage of their sporting careers.

The Electric Ireland GAA All-Ireland Minor Championships continue to showcase some of the most promising young talent in Gaelic Games while also placing greater emphasis on players’ personal development and well-being.

Electric Ireland has been the title sponsor of the Championships since 2011 and has consistently used the platform to promote positive messages around participation, community and the value of sport in young people’s lives.

This year’s campaign will feature player stories, behind-the-scenes content and conversations between current players and former Minor legends, reflecting on memorable moments, knowledge gained and the transition from underage to senior level.

The Championships themselves are now entering the decisive stages across both hurling and football, with Quarter Finals almost fully set in both codes and taking place over the coming weeks.

Supporters can follow the campaign throughout the summer on social media via @ElectricIreland and through the hashtag #ThisIsMajor.
