Nicolas Roche on a bike and Johnny Murtagh on horseback are to stage a one off race at Leopardstown Racecourse on Thursday, August 14th.
Roche will miss the Irish National Championships next week as he prepares for the Tour de France, but will be back in Dublin for this unique fundraiser and as part of a day of events at the South County Dublin track in seven weeks time.
He will ride on the track normally used by emergency vehicles just inside the main racecourse while Murtagh, one of Ireland’s most successful ever jockeys will be on the turf just inside. The distance of the race will be such to produce what will hopefully be a close finish.
Earlier in the day Roche will host a special one day summer camp for young children and will then hold a fundraising ‘Evening with Roche’ in the Leopardstown Pavilion.
