Manchester United announced on Friday that it has signed a new five-year agreement with the global technology company TeamViewer as its principal shirt partner.
The partnership will begin with the 2021/2022 season and is reported to be worth £235 million (€275 million).
That figure puts the deal in line with the one struck by Barcelona with Rakuten and is the biggest by value in the Premier League. It is though down by around one third on what Chevrolet had been paying.
Chevrolet cam on board as vehicle partner in the first instance and have been on the shirt front at the club since 2014.
Team Viewer is based in Germany and claims to have been downloaded on 2.5 billion digital devices as a connectivity tool. It is reported to have 600,000 subscribers around the world.
According to a statement on the Manchester United website, “TeamViewer will enable Manchester United to bring its fans even closer to the team they love through ground-breaking AR solutions and remote access to the Theatre of Dreams.”
“We are tremendously proud to be establishing this partnership with one of the most exciting and dynamic global software companies,” said Man United Managing Director Richard Arnold.
“The ability to connect and collaborate has never been more important to the world and our community of 1.1billion fans and followers. We are looking forward to working with TeamViewer to bring to life our vision for a partnership built on smarter ways of connecting people and businesses.”
