Glasgow clubs on different financial path

Turnover increased by 3.1 per cent to €34.9 million during the six months to December 31. The profit in the same period of the previous year was boosted by the sale of Aidan McGeady and the investment in players during this year was also down at just over €5 million but Chairman Ian Bankier was satisfied that this was enough to maintain a strong on field performance.
“We invested €5.3 million in the first half of the year and have followed this with further acquisitions in the most recent January window. The strength and depth of the player pool now available to the football manager is better than it has been for several seasons. This has been enabled through financial discipline in recent years, creating a virtuous trilogy of being able to keep our best players, build and develop significant value in our player pool, and see improvements in football performance.’
The clubs reinstatement in the Europa League generated turnover of €1.2 million which offset reduced income from pre season tours and merchandise.
