Seán Drummond was a star underage player who had gone on to play a leading role in the Cuala senior team. In 2019 after finishing his college exams he travelled to London but while there he suffered life-changing injuries in an accident.

The club rallied around and a group of a dozen friends took it on to visit him in London every weekend and to raise funds for his long term care and support. When Covid struck it became even harder but after making progress in his care Sean returned home to his family home earlier this year following a stay in the wonderful care of the staff at the National Rehabilitation Centre in Dún Laoghaire.

There have been biscuit challenges and walks, concerts and auctions as well as a host of other fundraisers organised by clubmate and former Dublin player Conor Mullaly among others and this raised enough to adapt the home for Sean’s needs but more is always needed.

Now AIG will give over their jersey sponsorship of Dublin’s four senior teams, men’s and women’s football, camogie and hurling, for a round of matches this month.

The Support4Drummo logo will replace AIG on the front of Dublin jerseys in Dublin v Galway in hurling next weekend, Dublin v Tipperary in camogie on May 28th and the Leinster football final doubleheader at Croke Park on May 28, Dublin v Kildare in the Men’s Championship and Dublin v Meath in the Women’s.

They have told Sean’s story in a moving tribute that reflects both the pain but also the hope of his strength and that of his family and friends.
