Willie Mullins was named as the National Hunt trainer of the year for the third year in a row at the 2011 Irish Horse Racing Awards.
His Champion Hurdler Hurricane Fly was named the Horse of the Year. He landed each of the BHP Insurance Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown, the Stan James Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham and the Rabobank Champion Hurdle at Punchestown in a year to remember.
Joseph O’Brien added to his Champion Apprentice title by taking home the Flat award while Dermot Weld and Nina Carberry were also among those honoured in front of an audience of 180 at Leopardstown racecourse on Monday December 12th.
