Volleyball Ireland has strengthened its Board of Administration with the appointment of three new Directors.
Gavin Dredge and Beth Rae have been co-opted until the next AGM, whilst brand and marketing expert Patrick Murphy joins Volleyball Ireland as an Independent Director following a robust nominations process which was ratified last weekend by member clubs.
Considered one of Ireland’s leading sports marketers, Murphy is the Managing Director of Branding Sport, and has worked on several high-profile branding and sponsorship projects from the Olympic Federation of Ireland and Swim Ireland to athletes including Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry.
The rebranding of Volleyball Ireland in 2020 arose from a collaboration with Sport for Business where we ran a makeover competition to raise spirits during the darker days of the pandemic.
Gavin Dredge is a finance governance expert and member of the Technical Expert Panel of the Irish Pensions Authority. whose first sporting love was Volleyball.
Beth Rae, originally from Canada, joins the team after nearly two decades on the Board of Bermuda Volleyball.
“First of all, we were delighted by the interest and calibre of candidates for the roles. Bringing someone with Patrick’s expertise and creativity into the sport will really help elevate what we’re trying to do with our brand and commercial activities.”
“These appointments will enhance the evolution of Volleyball Ireland,” added CEO Gary Stewart.
“We now have eight high-performers with a balanced skill set driving the strategic direction of the sport. I’m excited to work with them all over the coming years.”
