It took until the final episode for Rory to make his appearance in Full Swing Series One but he is there from the start of the second series that dropped around the world today.

We have seen a few of the episodes and they are better than the first time around.

There were a few too many glamorous homes and surface level understanding of the players first time round but, just like drive to Survive, and hopefully Full Contact, this genre gets better the more it becomes embedded as part of the scene rather than a very obvious add-on.

Among the highlights are being around Justin Thomas through the horrors of his early season form, being right there with players when they learned of the ‘deal’ between the PGA Tour and the Saudi Public Investment Fund, and Joel Dahmen.

Joel is the Guenther Steiner of this show, the unexpected star who wears his heart on his sleeve and lets us in on what really feels like the real person.

There is a huge amount of money in pro golf but that does not guarantee happiness and the interweaving of Dahmen and Wyndham Clarks story is very well done.

The second series finishes up with two episodes devoted to the Ryder Cup at the Marco Simeone course, fights in the car park and all.

If you’ve followed the craziness of golf over the last couple of years this will be a great companion piece. If not it is an equally good primer.

It will get you excited for the Masters and for the Open, the big events with greater context than might ever have been imagined in the heady days of Nicklaus and Woods.

Well worth a watch. The series is streaming on netflix from today.
