If you thought the debate about competitive games for 10 year olds in Gaelic Games was getting heated, you’d better turn away.
Today in Bahrain they will host the opening ceremony for the third edition of the Baby Olympics.
Described as a competition for children aged two to four years old, with the aim of promoting sport and introducing basic Olympic values at a young age, the competition includes various sports such as athletics, gymnastics, football, basketball, and more.
The event features a range of contests, including a freestyle gymnastics moves contest, a free-kick competition in football, a basketball free-throws contest, and a weightlifting show, where it is said the focus is on technique.
Over 1,000 children have competed in the first two editions of the Games, hosted in 2018 and 2019 before Covid wiped it from the schedule.
There is a baby front crawl race, hurdle races and more.
Ireland will not be represented at the games.
Please nobody tell Joe Duffy.
