The Scottish Open is to have a new name from July for the next three years as Aberdeen Asset Management take over from Barclays as the principal sponsor.  The event will take place this year at Castle Stuart Links, two weeks after the Irish Open at Royal Portrush, and the week before the Open Championship.
Graeme McDowell won the Scottish Open back in 2008.
Scottish Government support has also been made available to implement a programme of Junior Golf around the country in the run up to the 2014 staging of the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles.
No figure was placed on the value of the sponsorship but the prize fund for 2012 will be £2.5 million, rising to £3 million in each of 2013 and 2014..
The Irish Open is yet to secure a title sponsor but is backed by both the Irish and northern Irish governments and has a prize fund of €2 million.
