Monterosso, owned by Sheikh Mohammed, one of the ruling family in Dubai, won the Dubai World Cup on Saturday night, keeping the world’s richest race at home.
The Aidan O’Brien trained So You Think started favourite and held a good position turning for home but faded to finish fourth.
The race could be watched live in Irish betting shops on Saturday night because of a beneficial scheduling of Saturday’s race meeting at Navan.  The law does not permit betting shops to remain open past 6.30pm until the summer, unless there is an Irish race scheduled past that time.  The last race at Navan was put back to 6.35 on Saturday thereby allowing the betting shops to remain open to show the race.
A beaten Irish favourite will have made up for any additional cost in staying open later than normal on this one Saturday night and it also will have given more time for betting to take place on the Munster Vs Leinster game in the RaboDirect Pro12 and the Mayo Vs Dublin game, both of which were televised live.
