Opel Ireland has launched the fourth year of its ‘Kit for Clubs’ initiative which rewards customers with points that can be redeemed for training equipment. The brand has a long association with the GAA and the Gaelic Players Association.550 clubs are registered and while last year’s redemption of just over 50,000 points was down on the first year when 400 clubs redeemed over 70,000 points, the promotion has become a staple of many clubs fundraising activity.
Services and test drives are worth 10 points while the purchase of a new car through the Opel Dealers Network will earn 200 points. Sliotars can be redeemed for 5 points, tackle bags are worth 100 and a new set of adult kit 1000 points.
“This scheme connects club and county in a practical way with county player ambassadors like Colm Cooper and Liam Rushe helping to raise awareness for an initiative that has real tangible benefits for club volunteers,” said GPA Chief Executive Dessie Farrell.
Opel Ireland “Kit for Clubs” initiative is about supporting local GAA clubs across the country. Liam Ware, Mallow GAA Club Secretary, outlines how his club has benefited from the initiative. “Opel’s “Kit for Clubs” initiative has been a wonderful help to Mallow GAA Club,” said secretary Liam Ware. “Since this scheme started we have been able to get playing kit and training equipment which would otherwise not have been possible due to limited resources.”
