The Munster Rugby clash with South Africa at Pairc Uí Chaoimh has proven to be a huge success with less than five percent of the 40,000 tickets still on sale this morning and likely to be gone by the end of the day.

The bulk of tickets in the grandstands were sold within minutes of going on general sale after strong takeup in the presale for members of the Munster rugby Supporters Club.

That left only terrace tickets at either end of the ground and they started to fly as well.

The game will be played under lights with a 7-30 PM kick-off on Thursday, November 10th.

It will be the first Rugby match to be played at the venue which underwent a magnificent refurbishment in recent years and is now one of the finest stadia in the country.

It will also be the biggest attendance at a rugby match in the province with the capacity outstripping that of Thomond Park.

The PwC-backed Ireland U20 team won their Grand Slam last season playing at Musgrave Park in the City so Munster will be hoping to carry on the lucky charm of the sport on the banks of the Lee.

Part of the success of the ticket sale was in pitching the tickets at a reasonable price with €20 for the cost of adult tickets, €10 for juniors and combo pricing at €25 and €50 for one and two adult and child tickets on the terrace.

The excitement will be palpable and it is a big boost for the Munster finances.
