
The two time Olympic Gold medallist and nine time World Champion addressed an audience at Trinity College on Cycle4Haiti, the official charity partner of the Show.
The ride, sponsored by One4All, will take place over the May bank holiday weekend, starting from Dublin, Carlow, Cork and Sligo with over 400 cyclists converging on Athlone for an overnight rest before the peloton spins a further 85kms to the finish line in Eyre Square, Galway.
Dublin is ranked 9th out of 80 in the list of Most Bicycle Friendly Cities in the World and generates an estimated €130m for the economy. Membership of Cycling Ireland has almost tripled in the past five years and the success of champions like Pendleton as well as Ireland’s own Martyn Irvine is inspiring a new generation of cyclists to take up the sport.
One in five people in Ireland are now thought to be interested in cycling and the second annual Irish Cycling Show will feature an array of cycle exhibitors, seminars, presentations, celebrity interviews, a bike test track and children’s skills .
