Pinergy has been announced as the Official Energy Partner of Wexford GAA, in a new partnership that will place sustainability and renewable energy at the centre of the county’s operations.
The deal was unveiled at Chadwicks Wexford Park, with players Seán Nolan and Laura Dempsey on hand to mark the launch.
As part of the agreement, Pinergy will install a 66-panel, 29.37kWp solar PV system at Chadwicks Wexford Park in the coming months. The installation is projected to generate 25,600kWh of electricity annually and is expected to meet 50 per cent of the stadium’s energy demand.
The development is the latest step in Pinergy’s work in the South East, where the company has been active in renewable energy since 2012.
It acquired Solar Electric in Enniscorthy in 2021 and continues to operate from its base at Senan House in Enniscorthy Technology Park.
“We are incredibly excited to partner with Wexford GAA,” said David Slattery, Head of Marketing at Pinergy.
“This partnership is a natural fit, allowing us to not only support the vibrant GAA community in Wexford but also to highlight the significant benefits of sustainable energy.”
“We look forward to helping local clubs and their members embrace the energy transition through our affinity programmes and green energy offers.”
The partnership will see Pinergy work with clubs, businesses, and households across Wexford to promote sustainable energy practices. Local clubs will be able to access green energy affinity solutions, designed to encourage wider adoption of solar and other renewable options.
One club already involved is Davidstown Courtnacuddy GAA, which is working with Pinergy on its own solar PV installation as part of its energy transition.
“Partnering with Pinergy feels like a natural fit for Wexford GAA,” said County Board Chair John Kenny.
“Their dedication to supporting local communities and driving positive change aligns perfectly with our own values.”
“This partnership goes beyond sponsorship; it’s about building a sustainable future for our clubs and county, and we’re excited to embark on this journey with a leader in the energy transition space.”
The move is in line with a broader trend across the GAA, where sustainability and climate action are becoming central to planning and development.
The agreement highlights the growing importance of sustainability within sport and the opportunities for partnerships that deliver long-term community benefit.
