Premier Sports has unveiled its coverage plans for coverage of the 2025 Bank of Ireland Leinster Rugby Boys Schools Senior Cup.
The broadcaster will show eight games exclusively live from the competition with the clash of Blackrock College and St Mary’s College first up in Round 1 on Tuesday 28th January. The coverage gets under way from Energia Park at 2.45pm on Premier Sports 1 with interviews and analysis from Connor Morris and Bernard Jackman.
Thereafter, all four quarter-finals of the competition will be broadcast live on Premier Sports in the week commencing 10 February 2025, while both semi-finals will be scheduled live on the week beginning 3 March 2025, at the same venue.
With the RDS Arena closed for redevelopment, the final on St Patrick’s Day will be played in Tallaght Stadium where Premier Sports will bring the curtain down on another year of Senior Cup action.
“We are delighted in Premier Sports to play our part in promoting this brilliant competition and the schools and players therein once again this year,” said Premier Sports founder and owner Michael O’Rourke.
“There is a unique nature to this year’s competition with the final taking place in Tallaght Stadium, a place that our team are well familiar with and have broadcast from many a time before.”
“It’s an excellent venue to play in and creates a special atmosphere.”
“As always it promises to be a brilliant year of Senior Cup action, kicking off on the 28th January for us, with the reigning champions defending their title against a very hungry St Mary’s team who have enjoyed good days at Junior Cup level and will be hoping to make that breakthrough now at Senior Cup level.
“We can’t wait to get started and to showcase the best of the action from Energia Park and from Tallaght Stadium.”
“I’d like to thank Michael and the team in Premier Sports once again for their support of the Bank of Ireland Leinster Schools Senior Cup,” added Leinster Rugby Chief Commercial Officer Matthew Dowling.
“To be able to broadcast eight games live on a broadcaster of their experience and expertise is brilliant for us and all the players involved.”
“Premier Sports have shown their support for the game from the very top with the Investec Champions Cup, to the BKT URC and of course, right the way to the grassroots of the games with their coverage of the Senior Cup.”
“It promises to be another great few months of action and we look forward to the games starting in a few weeks’ time.”
Premier Sports is available on Sky (channels 412 and 420), Now, Virgin and Vodafone platforms.
In addition, Leinster Rugby have confirmed that the additional seven Round 1 games in the Bank of Ireland Leinster Rugby Boys Schools Senior Cup, starting on Monday 20th January will be streamed live with further details on that to follow.
SPORT FOR BUSINESS PERSPECTIVE
This competition has a remarkably strong draw for former students and the closest we come at this level to the fever of college football in the US. Having eight games televised live on Premier Sports and the rest of the games streamed will add to the reach.
