Saturday and Sunday saw a record 2,100 gymnasts from 32 clubs across the country compete at the Gymnastics Ireland GymSTART Floor and Vault Competition for 2025.
The event was held at the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena in Dublin, and saw over 5,000 spectators come to enjoy the experience.
The GymSTART programme allows young gymnasts to compete in a safe and inclusive environment. Through this programme Gymnastics Ireland provides a pathway for aspiring gymnasts to start their journey in the sport.
The event also saw an increase in GymABLE gymnasts and teenage participants, the majority of which were female.
This inclusive competition is part of a continued dedication by the sport to providing opportunities for people with disabilities.
Competing in both the Floor and Vault Competitions, GymABLE gymnast’s have the opportunity to continue within the GymABLE programme or transfer into the GymSTART programme.
Attention now shifts to the National Series event taking place on the 22nd and 23rd of March later this month, which will feature all six disciplines as well as the JumpSTART competition all taking place under one roof in the Sports Ireland National Indoor Arena.
