Aaron Gibson, Ollie Worth and Kieran Burke with Jonathan Sexton 22/11/2016Johnny Sexton might not be lining out for Ireland against Australia this weekend but that will not dim the memory of the day he met the kids of Letterkenny Rugby Club and handed over €10,000 they had won as part of the Topaz Cash for Clubs initiative.

After signing up to the community promotion, which saw club members collect tokens by fuelling up at Tobin’s service station, Letterkenny, Letterkenny Rugby Club was randomly drawn as one of the overall prize winners and awarded the €10,000 jackpot prize.

The ‘Cash for Clubs’ scheme was introduced last year to give clubs the opportunity to generate much-needed funds by harnessing the support of their members and the local community.

After collecting 2000 tokens and meeting the entry threshold, Letterkenny Rugby Club was drawn as the lucky winner scooping the €10,000 prize for Cash for Clubs which saw over 2,500 clubs register for the promotion this year.

What we really like about their winning it was the reference in the video below to clubs from all sports in the area using the facility that this will help to finish out.

One of the main initiatives which Sport for Business will be bringing to life with a number of key partners in 2017 is a Sports Club Hub which will provide a central source of information for sports clubs around the country on how they can be the best they can be when it comes to performance off as well as on the pitch, court or wherever they play.
