“The range of submissions is staggering and shows the innovation and imagination that exists within sport in Ireland at all levels,” said Sport for Business CEO Rob Hartnett.
“Our aim was to attract 20 ideas and give them a ‘dragons den’ style opportunity to pitch their best ideas for 2013 to an audience of 20 business leaders all of whom have an active interest in developing relationships with sport in the long term.”
“We will have presentations on programmes aimed at schools, local communities, clubs and the broad population. They will come from governing bodies, entrepreneurs and community groups that represent a hugely diverse spectrum of our sporting society.”
Among the organisations confirmed to participate so far are Paralympics Ireland, Parks Tennis, the UCD Smurfit Rugby Club that holds a record number of World titles, the World Sports team, the Dublin and Athlone Institutes of Technology, the Irish Greyhound Board and an innovative new competition aimed at Irish sporting clubs.
“We are delighted to have Ulster Bank on board as a partner for the event which we envisage developing into an annual opportunity to have ideas seen by decision makers who are finalising budgets for next year and who will be able to take initial ideas and see if they can be tailored to suit their own business needs for the next 12 months and beyond.”
The business audience will consist of 20 members of the business community, all of whom have an interest in developing relationships with sport in the long term.
