Sport for Business members will gather in Dublin tomorrow morning for the revival of our Members Round Table series, on this occasion looking at the challenges and opportunities arising for sports tourism.

We will discuss the public consultation now underway through the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, and how we can deliver smart, focused perspectives upon which to frame a policy around the attraction of major sporting events.

We will look at the short term arrival of the College Football Classic with promoters Irish American Events and main sponsors Aer Lingus; we will look to the further horizon of the bid to stage matches as part of the UEFA Euro 2028 Finals, with the FAI; we will also look at the points on the scale between those two, at the difference between participation and fan-based events, and at what we might hope for given a blank sheet of paper.

The purpose of our Monthly Round Table discussions is to bring smart minds together in a semi-structured forum and see where that takes us.

Tomorrow we will be joined by:

Rob Hartnett, Sport for Business
Brendan Meehan, Aer Lingus College Football Classic
Jenny Rafter, Aer Lingus Head of Global Leisure Sales
