Irish soccer will dominate the next two Thursday nights with RTÉ Sport announcing details of their live coverage on RTÉ2 of Dundalk’s UEFA Europa League Play-Off tomorrow against Klasksvikar Itrottarfelag, and Stephen Kenny naming his squad for the following Thursday’s Euro 2020 Sudden death playoff against Slovakia.
Both games are win or bust and will attract significant audiences.  The Republic of Ireland game is on Sky Sports with radio commentary on RTÉ.
Peter Collins will be joined by Richie Sadlier and Stuart Byrne for live coverage of Dundalk from the Aviva Stadium with former Faroe Islands assistant manager Johnny McDonnell alongside Darragh Maloney on commentary.
Coverage begins at 7.00 pm and the game kicks-off at 7.30 pm. The tie is a one-legged affair with the winner decided on the night. Extra-time and penalties are a possibility, the same path that Dundalk used to get to this stage winning against Sheriff Tiraspol.
If the SSE Airtricity Champions go through their potential opponents in the group stage could include Celtic, Rangers, Tottenham, AC Milan, Arsenal or Napoli.
The domestic game also received a boost when Jack Byrne was named in Stephen Kenny’s squad for the Slovakia game, the first hurdle of two to be overcome if we are to line out in the Aviva Stadium for our hosting of four Finals matches in Euro 2020 next June.
