On a daily basis, we will update from around the sporting world on what is happening to events that have always held an important part in our calendars of life. There will be negatives in terms of events lost but also positives as dates are set for a resumption at a point in the future and then, in time, a return to normality.
Australian Rules
The Australian Rules Season got underway a short while ago in Melbourne when Richmond took to the field against Carlton behind closed doors at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Australia has banned gatherings of more than 100 people but the AFL took the decision to go ahead and to keep the season going for as long as they can as scheduled.
“We embark on this journey with clear instruction from the government that all industry and all parts of society need to keep moving forward and we simply cannot stand still,” said AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan.

Premier League Talks to Take Place Today
representatives of the English premier league will meet today to discuss options around the completion of the 2019/20 season.
The meeting will take place remotely by video conference and it is understood that a number of calendar options will be considered.
There seems to be an almost consensus on the need to get the season finished, not least for contractual reasons.
South African Rugby Considers Domestic Games
South African rugby is considering staging matches between its clubs following the suspension of the Guinness PRO14 and Super Rugby tournaments in which they play.
“South African Rugby is currently evaluating all of our competition structures, with a view to restructure in the interim so that we are able to afford game time to all our franchise and provincial teams,” said CEO Jurie Roux.
Nothing will happen for at least a couple of weeks but the planning has started.
