Ellen Byrne
Ellen Byrne is the ESF+ Programme Executive at Sport Ireland.
She has played a pivotal role in the development and implementation of the Sport4Empowerment programme, a ground-breaking initiative funded through the ESF+ Programme that leverages sport to drive social innovation and inclusion.
Since joining Sport Ireland in May 2023, she has been instrumental in providing strategic and operational support to the ESF+ Social Innovation in Sport Officers and Local Sports Partnerships (LSPs) delivering the programme.
Beyond her professional achievements, Ellen is emerging as a future leader in Sport Ireland. Her academic excellence is evident, having graduated with first-class honours from the UCD Master of Sport Management in 2023, with her dissertation focusing on sustainability in World Athletics—a testament to her commitment to innovation and progress in sport.
She is also deeply embedded in the sporting community as a member of Dublin City Harriers. A talented middle-distance and cross-country runner, she actively contributes to her club’s success as a committee member.

So, who do you work with that has shone over the past twelve months and deserves recognition as they rise through their career?
It could be someone you work alongside or someone in another area you have admired or been impressed by.

Criteria
The criteria for submission are that the person should be working within the sports industry or in a sponsorship or agency capacity that brings sport to life and that they should have been born in or after 1995.
You are invited to submit names and a summary of why an individual should be recognised below.

Who should we be looking to for the next wave of excellence?
We will be naming one new 30 Under 30 individual in our Sport for Business Morning Bulletin from Thursday, March 20th, 2025
In May, we will gather once more in the offices of PwC to meet in person, share experiences, and forge valuable connections.
We will also examine additional ways to help those nominated enhance their careers and build strong friendships across the sector.
The Sport for Business Membership comprises over 300 organisations, including all the leading sports and sponsors, as well as commercial and state agencies.
