The Sport Ireland Campus will once again welcome the public for BeActive Campus Open Week 2025, running from September 23rd to 30th as part of the European Week of Sport.

The initiative, co-funded by the European Commission and Sport Ireland, offers a wide variety of free ‘come and try’ classes and events delivered in partnership with more than 20 National Governing Bodies of sport. With activities suitable for all ages and abilities, the week aims to make sport and physical activity accessible to everyone.

Sport Ireland CEO Dr Úna May said last year’s event had proven the appetite for such opportunities, noting that “the BeActive Campus Open Week was a great success in 2024. It was encouraging to see the local community and visitors engage with such enthusiasm.” She added that this year’s programme continues to expand, with “over 20 NGBs involved and a wide range of activities on offer.”

The European Week of Sport encourages participation across the continent, and the Campus has become one of its flagship hubs in Ireland. According to Michael Murray, Chief Operating Officer at Sport Ireland Campus, the event not only opens up sport to new audiences but also allows people to experience the facilities themselves. “We had a great influx of people experiencing the world-class facilities of the Sport Ireland Campus at the Open Week in 2024,” he said, promising that “this year will be bigger and better, with some exciting flagship events and activities throughout the week.”

With everything from family-friendly sessions to opportunities to try new and emerging sports, the Campus expects thousands of visitors during the week-long celebration of physical activity.

In advance of that SportAbility Day, a joint Dublin Local Authorities initiative under Active Cities, takes place at the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena tomorrow, Saturday, 6 September (11 am–3 pm), offering free inclusive ‘come & try’ sessions with support from leading NGBs and accessibility features throughout.

The Strive Fitness race will also take place there for the first time as a precursor to BeActive week on the 21st.
