Olympic gold medallist Kellie Harrington, former Irish rugby international Tommy Bowe, sports journalist and activist Joanne O‘Riordan and GAA manager and former player Jamie Wall were on hand yesterday to formally launch ‘Let’s Get Back’, a campaign from Sport Ireland in partnership with Healthy Ireland, aimed at getting the Irish public back involved in the sport and exercise that they love.
Sport Ireland published the 2021 Irish Sports Monitor Mid-Year Report last week, which shows the number of people taking part in sport in recent months is slowly rising however, there has been a slow return to social participation in sport.
The campaign is supported by Sport Ireland’s nationwide network of Local Sports Partnerships and National Governing Bodies.
Each of the Local partnerships is promoting a wide range of activities from ‘Men on the Move’, Marathon Kids and Go for Life in Dublin to a Race Around Galway in the West, Inclusive Tennis in Leitrim, a SportsAbility programme and podcast in Waterford and a Rebel Run a Mile in Cork.
Full details of the campaign and how to get back to sport and exercise in a safe and secure manner, as well as links to all the Local Sports Partnerships, are available on the Sport Ireland website.
The new campaign launched with a great video two weeks ago which can be seen below.
