Littlewoods Ireland has thrown in the ball with its campaign around the start this weekend of the All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship.

This is the fourth year of the brand backing the Championship as one of its three top tier sponsors, and the first since the renewal of the deal for a second three year period in 2019.

It should, of course, have already delivered for online shopping brand in a similarly strong fashion to the way it did before and Littlewoods has captured something of the strangest year by unveiling its ‘Style Meets Substance’ activation.

Limerick’s Cian Lynch and Clare’s Tony Kelly took part in socially distant photoshoots in their hometowns of Ballyea, Co. Clare and Patrickswell, Co. Limerick, the evidence of which is seen above and below in the shots by Ramsey Cardy of Sportsfile.

They held media calls across zoom the evidence of which can be seen across the national media this morning.

Style Meets Substance

Style Meets Substance sets a spotlight the people of the GAA and their passion for hurling.

It has picked up on the theme that Hurling people are something of a breed apart, united by a love for the game.

“They are people of substance, and hurling is a true game of style – not just the game itself, but what it represents and what it means to people. It brings joy to people’s lives. It goes beyond the game,” said Sponsorship Manager Pippa Doyle who will join us tomorrow morning to explain more on the Sport for Business Daily.

The new 2020 Littlewoods Ireland GAA TV ad will first air on October 23rd and will be on our screens in bursts throughout the Championship.

The advert features Cian Lynch, Tony Kelly,  long-term Littlewoods Ireland ambassador and Kilkenny hurling All-Star Jackie Tyrrell; along with John Mullane from Waterford and Galway’s Gerry McInerney.

We’re proud to be sponsoring the All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship for the fourth year running and to launch the Style Meets Substance campaign,” said Rossa Butler, Managing Director of Littlewoods Ireland.

Pure Magic

“In 2020, more than ever I think we’ve seen what this game represents and what it means to people. It brings joy to people’s lives. And during the Championship, when the style of hurling meets the substance of its legions of supporters it’s pure magic.”

“The GAA Hurling Championship is almost upon us after what has been a difficult period for the country,” added GAA President John Horan..

“We look forward to working with Littlewoods Ireland to promote the games and the excitement that they bring. This is our fourth year working with Littlewoods Ireland and they bring a unique style to the promotion of our partnership.”

As in previous years, the hashtag for Littlewoods Ireland’s sponsorship of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship and the National Camogie League remains #StyleOfPlay. Style of Play is about celebrating both the Hurling and Camogie family, people of real character and substance.
