Tallaght Stadium will welcome fans to the ground for the first time since the finale of last year’s SSE Airtricity League tonight when Shamrock Rovers host Derry City.
Fans will notice a significant change with the new fourth stand rising from the ground at the Square end of the stadium.
There are a number of changes and restrictions to access at the ground and there will be reduced car parking at the opposite end but it is some achievement to remain open as a working sports venue while such a significant building project is underway.
Last year the Stadium, operated by South Dublin County Council, gained the highest level of category four stadium compliance from UEFA.
This allows it to host group games all the way up to the UEFA Champions League.
When the new stand opens in the summer it will raise the overall capacity of the ground to 10,500.
