The sunshine of recent days have raised peoples eyes towards the summer and that is a season which marches to its’ own particular beat.

The Tattersalls International Horse Trials & Country Fair is one of the quintessentially country events that marks the arrival of the season and will take place this year from 31st May to 4th June.

Last year the event drew a crowd of 31,000 for the competitions in show jumping, cross country and dressage, the equestrian version of a triathlon.

The Country Fair element is also a big draw for families with an artisan food market, tented shopping village, picnic areas and more. Kids under 12 go free and their are deep discounts for teenagers as well.

The overall event is supported by Failte Ireland this year using Ireland’s Ancient East as the main brand. Other sponsors to see the benefit of reaching an affluent country tinged audience include Stena Line with the Kids Zone, Land Rover and Kubota tractors. Jaguar sponsor the Members area while Mitsubishi have attached their name to the Picnic Square.

“We are proud to be playing host to some of the best riders in the world here at Tatts 2017, including Phillip Dutton, ranked  World No. 2, who is traveling over from America,” said Roger Casey, Managing Director of Tattersalls Ireland.

“We have many other multi-medal winning international athletes – Sir Mark Todd and Tim Price representing New Zealand, Zara Tindall (the Queen’s granddaughter), Mary King and William Fox-Pitt, all members of the GB Olympic team, and Lissa Greene, daughter of Lucinda Greene who won Badminton a record six times.”

“Also our own Olympians Jonty Evans and Padraig McCarthy, who represented Ireland at Rio. To have such a wealth of equestrian sporting talent here in Ireland for the weekend is a huge honour and that combined with the ever expanding Country Fair will make it a few days not to be missed.”

Tattersalls have invested wisely in the promotion of the event and the new website for 2017 is a good window on a world where sport and society meet comfortably, providing a great day out.

Badminton Horse Trials were televised on the BBC last weekend and celebrated a 25th year of sponsorship from Mitsubishi Motors, showing the longevity of backers in the sport.

Horse Sport Ireland were present at one of the sport’s premium events as well with the Irish Horse Gateway drawing people into the strong business of horse breeding, feed and more that Ireland is a strong player in.
