GB Hockey launches the NPower National Dribble
Great Britain Hockey has launched a major promotional exercise with sponsors npower which will involve a road show, events and a giant hockey ball travelling to 40 towns and cities over a two week period.
At each stop along the path of the NPower Big Dribble, communities will be invited to be part of a record attempt to ‘dribble’ a hockey ball 100 metres at a time making up to a total of 2012km. They will also have the chance to meet GB international hockey players from the past and present and send the GB hockey squad good luck wishes ahead of the Olympic Games by signing the giant ball.
The events are based around increasing awareness, enjoyment of and participation in the sport and will also raise funds for national children’s charity WellChild.  They include activities like a  Cage Goal Scoring Challenge, Giant Hockey Skittles and a competition to win an electric scooter – compliments of event sponsor, npower.
The sponsors have secured their return on publicity was also using the event as a ‘test’ of  the UK’s Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure. Equipment will be transported in new Mercedes-Benz Vito E-CELL all-electric vans, powered using npower charging posts, in an effort to showcase EV technology, while identifying areas where further development is required.
For those unable to attend an event, Great Britain Hockey is encouraging people to host their own ‘Little Dribble’ to raise money for WellChild.  A free information pack on hosting such an event at workplaces, school playgrounds or anywhere else is available for download from www.thebigdribble.com

Camogie Club Finals at Croke Park on Sunday
The Camogie All Ireland Club finals return to Croke Park on Sunday with teams from Wexford, Tipperary, Galway and Derry in action.  The finals returned to GAA headquarters last year after a break of 40 years.
Oulart the Ballagh from Wexford face Drom/Inch of Tipperary in the senior decider at 3.00pm and at 1.00pm defending Intermediate champions Eoghan Rua of Derry play Galway champions Ardrahan.
“We are delighted to be back in Croke Park for this year’s All Ireland Club Finals as the venue adds extra prestige to a great occasion for the players, supporters and communities of the participating teams,” said Camogie president Joan O’Flynn.
“It is at club level where a player’s camogie career begins, where lifelong friendships are formed and where lasting bonds are created.”
“Clubs are an integral part of rural and urban communities and in many cases are the centres of activity in the area. Sunday’s finals will be a celebration of sport and a demonstration of true community spirit in action as supporters rally to the cause.”
There will be a schools competition at half time and details of the event can be found at www.facebook.com/camogieassociation.
