It took a while to bring it all together but it has worked and now all eyes will be on the German Bundesliga for its return to action in the coming weeks.
Yesterday the German Federal Government gave its blessing to the League resuming in the second half of this month.
A conference call between the 36 clubs in the top two divisions will finalise the start date later today and four of the five TV companies who were contracted to broadcast matched in Germany and around the world have agreed to make their final payment on the basis of the season being completed.
There is a 41-page document outlining the measures and precautions that will need to be observed including the testing regime, the very specific regulations around players arriving at the grounds and everything needed to protect those working at the stadium.
The clubs have been training for the past two weeks and conducting testing on players and backroom staff.
It was revealed this week that of 1,724 test carried out up to that point, ten had proven positive and all those were isolating. Two players and one physio were from one club, Cologne FC but tests taken since have not revealed any further transmission.
If they have gone too soon and it has to shut down again because of a rise in transmission or issues around fans gathering in too large groups then it will be shut down again and the whole rest of the sporting world will have to hold its breath again.
If it has been done right, however, it will provide the blueprint for others to follow and become a seminal moment in the resurgence of sport.
Bayern Munich lead the top flight by four points with nine games to go.
They face their nearest Challengers Borussia Dortmund in the third game back. That is one to look forward to.
