It was not the greatest of sporting weekends for the Irish Rugby family though there was a winning start and a positive sign for the future in the U20 team winning back to back triple crowns.
Ireland 39-21 England. What a result for the Ireland U20s last night in Northampton. After the match, @LaurenGuilfoyle caught up with Ireland’s Dan Kelly, who’s come through the Exiles programme to make a huge impact in the green jersey. #FutureIsGreen @PwCIreland pic.twitter.com/OBWF9pPS2z

The positive start on Friday night followed through onto the Late Late Show when ‘nice’ Roy Keane turned up on the couch alongside Ryan Tubridy and met young Darragh Curley from Donegal who had been in the news through the week himself…

There were 26,000 in Croke Park on Saturday night to see Dublin’s Hurlers and Footballers go back to back and while the small ball team went down to what ended up as a 13 man Wexford, the footballers came through a tight match against Donegal to hold their place at the top of the Allianz League Division One.

There really wasn’t much to love about the game at Twickenham on Sunday afternoon though there were some moments to remember…

And a reminder that statistics don’t always tell an unimpeachable story of how a match has turned out.

Fair play to England rugby for not getting carried away and remembering that there were two of their teams in action on the day.
That winning feeling 👌
A good day for both our senior teams today, thank you for all your support 🌹#ENGvIRE pic.twitter.com/fvQgMiofWz

Two bits of outrageous brilliance in Gaelic Games while those Rugby games were taking place. First up was Down Goalkeeper Shannon O’Reilly with some save against Roscommon in a helter-skelter piece of action.

And to round things off a reminder that sporting comebacks come across all manner of competition. Congratulations to Caradh O’Donovan on her comeback silver medal after a year out of her sport through injury…
💔Silver Medal💔
Finished the final with a 0-0 draw but unfortunately they gave my opponent the decision. Gutted😢
Still I’m delighted to be back after a year out and performing well.
Another few weeks left to improve ahead of the Europeans in Baku 👊🏼… https://t.co/5pO4IXRHuI pic.twitter.com/9YWMQdKtln
