The LA Rams won the Super Bowl last night, their first since 1999 and with a drive at the end of the game that just got them over the line against the underdog Cincinnati Bengals.
It was not a classic but still great sport for those of us who are smitten by the game.
In the United States and around the world, the cultural reference points go deeper than the passing stats of Joe Burrow and the Pepsi-sponsored Half-Time show featuring Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre, Kendrick Lamarr and Mary J Blige was deemed to be one of the better in recent years.
And then there were the ads. We don’t get to see them here in Europe but the going rate for a 30-second spot last night was $7 million. So you can bet they were created to have an impact.
