Three is making a return to visibility with football in Ireland but the connection is through its continuing partnership with Chelsea as opposed to a trip down memory lane with the FAI.
The focus is on Women’s football and a link-up with the current reigning Women’s Super League Champions.
They have announced the launch of a #WeSeeYou network which will give a rare an opportunity for Irish female soccer coaches, players, and anyone working in the business of sport, so long as they are above the age of 16.
The initiative aims to recognise and celebrate women in football by providing money can’t buy opportunities to the next wave of Irish female soccer stars.
Partnering with Chelsea Football Club, Three is providing a once-in-a-lifetime chance to train with the reigning Women’s Super League champions and get insights into how the club operates up close and personal.
There are three categories; Passionate Players, Committed Coaches and the Business of Sport, with prizes in each that will provide exclusive access to the first team squad, coaching staff and industry experts.
For the Business of Sport pillar the Chelsea FC Weekend Experience will be made possible for up to 30 standout nominees from across Britain and Ireland.
It will consist of a full day of talks, workshops and an exclusive conference with a panel of curated presenters, broadcasters and journalists.
There will also be match day tickets and the other two pillars will have a similar feel.
The competition is running across Three’s social channel with entries being accepted up until January 27th.
Sport for Business Perspective:
There is clearly no reference to the Irish Women’s National Team that is leading the surge of interest in Women’s and girls football as that is very much in the Sky space and with other FAI partners. If Three had not been the previous partners of the FAI it would simply be seen as a great chance to experience Women’s football at a very high level in a number of different ways. It feels a little cheeky but it is a big world and it is a great prize.
