The Paralympic Games are almost upon us with the Opening Ceremony taking place in Paris on Wednesday.
Linear TV and streaming will deliver the best of the Games to a global audience but it is worth pointing out the positive influence of social media and especially the IPC TikTok account in changing the way we view the athletes, and their impairments.
It has 4.5 million followers and is racking up tens of millions of views with its at times irreverent content, all of which though is applauded by the athletes.
Breaking through the noise of social media into the mainstream to show the talent and endeavour of the athletes is the goal of any sports account and this is as good as it gets.
Here is a selection of the videos which have pushed the IPC account into the spotlight and which have made it required check-in material ahead of the Games, either for explainers or a more light hearted look.

And the Paralympics Ireland account being run from Paris by Fiona Scally is worth checking out over the next two weeks and beyond as well, as well as those of the athletes including Kerrie Leonard.
