The VHI Women’s Mini Marathon takes place in Dublin this Sunday and it looks as though the sun will be shining on the tens of thousands that will take part.
The trace returned to the streets and the collective participation in 2022, reviving a race that has been running since 1981 and which at its peak brought 40,000 onto the roads.
Over a million women have taken part in the race in that time, raising hundreds of millions for a wide variety of good causes.
It is the training that goes into it that is perhaps as important for the runners and the streets along the route will be packed with wellwishers.
It starts at 12:30 Pm at Fitzwilliam Street Upper before winding out along Leeson Street and the Stillorgan Road to UCD before swinging left on Nutley Lane and coming back in via the Merrion Road to a finish on Pembroke Road.
“Vhi are proud to be the title sponsor of the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon, an event that is part of the fabric of Irish society,” added the insurers Head of Corporate Communications, Brighid Smyth.
“This event is a celebration of women and everyone has different reasons for taking part whether its fitness related, to raise funds for a cause or to enjoy a day out with family and friends. Whatever the reason, joining 25,000 women on the streets of Dublin in the biggest event of its kind, is very powerful. In Vhi we are committed to helping people live longer, stronger, healthier lives and our partnership with the Women’s Mini Marathon helps us to deliver this.”
