Virgin Media Television and the League of Ireland have announced three additional live games in the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division in September.
As the title race gathers pace in one of the most open seasons in recent times, VMTV will be showing the best of the action as the campaign turns down the home straight.
On Friday 1st September, Shamrock Rovers v Bohemians in a crunch Dublin Derby will be live on VMTV.
Stephen Bradley’s charges will be back once again two weeks later, with Derry City v Shamrock Rovers live from The Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium on Friday 15th September.
The following week, it will be St Patrick’s Athletic v Dundalk on Friday 22nd September.
The coverage will be led by Tommy Martin and Bernard O’Toole on presentation and commentary duty. They will be joined by Brian Kerr, Vinny Perth, Ian Morris and Keith Treacy on analysis.
“We are delighted to announce three further top-class SSE Airtricity Premier Division fixtures which will broadcast on three consecutive match weeks next month,” said Mick McCaffrey, Head of News and Sport at Virgin Media.
“As the end of the season approaches these top-of-the-table games are sure to be massively entertaining and we’d really encourage the Irish football family to get behind our coverage and tune in.”
“We’re delighted to bring these three massive games live to Virgin Media Television as the title race picks up pace coming into the final weeks of the season,” added Mark Scanlon, League of Ireland Director.
“It has been exciting working with Virgin Media so far this season who have brought a new dimension to League of Ireland broadcasting and help bring our games to an even bigger audience. The three matches selected will have huge bearing on the title race and we can’t wait to get them televised to a national audience and see how it all plays out.”
“As long-standing sponsors of the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier, Men’s First and Women’s Premier Division, it’s great to see more broadcasting opportunities bringing the excitement and enjoyment of the league to a wider audience,” said SSE Airtricity Head of Brand, Advertising & Sponsorship, Ashley Morrow.
These games are in addition to three previous live matches on Virgin Media Television earlier this year, bringing the total number of live games to six this season.
RTÉ have continued to show matches and TG4 have come on board again with ten games from the Women’s Premier Division.
This extended free-to-air coverage has expanded the reach of the domestic game bolstering the position of LOITV which shows every match live and on demand.
The quality of the League and its competitiveness is migher than ever and showing that to as wide an audience as possible is vitally important.
