Virgin Media Television has launched its sports line-up for the coming months, with some of the biggest events set for live coverage free-to-air.
All eyes will be on the oval ball throughout the springtime, as the Guinness Six Nations tops the bill, with Ireland looking to win a third consecutive men’s title, and the women’s and U20 championships also live on VMTV.
The new-look UEFA Champions League format continues, as the league phase draws to a close and the knockouts get underway. Viewers will continue have access to more free-to-air UEFA Champions League action than ever before, with eight games live every match-week.
Virgin will showcase live world-class athletics in 2025, with the announcement that it will air the Wanda Diamond League once again. All 15 meets in the annual series will be live and free to air in the build up to the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in the autumn.
Other sporting elements of note from this morning’s launch at Ballymount include top-class horse racing, including the Cheltenham and Aintree festivals, and the Super Bowl taking place live from New Orleans on the evening of Sunday 9th February.
SPORT FOR BUSINESS PERSPECTIVE
We are so fortunate in Ireland to have three public service broadcasters willing to invest in sport and bring the best of the action to us live and free to air. The excellence of the pay service is great for those who are passionate but bringing sport to the general population and making it so accessible is a rarity across Europe.
WHAT’S UP NEXT?
The Guinness Six Nations kicks off on the evening of Friday, January 31st.
