Throughout this Women in Sport Week Sport for Business has been bringing together some of the highlights of programmes, events and content shared by members of our network.
Today it is the pillar of Leadership and Governance, to be followed by Active Participation and Visibility and Events through the rest of the week.
On Friday we will publish our latest survey of how the mainstream Irish sporting media is stacking up in its overall coverage of Women’s sport.
Elsewhere on the site, we have covered some of the major events that took place yesterday and which we were honoured to be a part of.
Our first ever Sport for Business Round Table event and our first ever Conference back in 2012 were both on the subject of Women in Sport and we are a lifetime away now in terms of the opportunity there is today for girls and women, even that we were then, and certainly than was the case twenty and thirty years ago.
It is perhaps the most gratifying area of the different areas of sport we get involved in but this job has only just begun. We celebrate the gathering momentum today but the reality is that there is still no real equality in sports, despite what some might say that there is now too much emphasis on it.
We won’t stop until we have genuine equality of respect, coverage, spectator numbers, player numbers and more.
Sport must be held to the same standard as we apply in health and education, in media and in culture. We cannot celebrate one day and then go back to the normal for the other 364.
Here is another selection of the projects and activities taking place across the Irish sporting ecosystem this week
