It has been one fine year to be a Wexford GAA supporter. It was announced yesterday that Zurich Insurance is to become the main sponsor of the county’s Hurling and Football teams.

This comes off the back of Davy Fitgerald’s decision to stay with the 2019 Leinster Senior and Minor Champiuons and the appointment of Paul Galvin to manage the senior footballers.

The sponsorship deal will run for an initial four-year period year from 2020 and will provide very important support to Wexford GAA in the coming years.

Zurich is a very significant employer in Drinagh, Wexford. This is the company’s first step into sponsorship of the GAA. It has a long term partnership in place with Rugby Players Ireland and is a major backer of that organisation’s ‘Tackle Your Feelings’ Campaign.

The partnership is a big win for Wexford GAA’s commercial manager Eanna Martin. He was appointed to the role a year ago, only the second such position at inter county level after Tomás Quinn in Dublin.

He is backed by a strong commercial steering group and this is a justification for the effort and investment that has gone into building capacity.

Zurich has grown its presence in Wexford since 2008 and it now employs over 230 people in the county. Zurich employees at all levels of the business have a strong engagement in grassroots GAA and this new partnership will further strengthen Zurich’s involvement in the GAA across the county.

“We are incredibly proud to sign as headline sponsor of Wexford GAA,” said Anthony Brennan, CEO of Zurich Ireland.

“The sponsorship is a true reflection of our values as a long-standing proud member of the Wexford business community and is consistent with Zurich’s long-term association with grassroots sport in Ireland.”

“We are delighted to be announcing this sponsorship agreement between Wexford GAA and Zurich,” added Wexford County Board Chairman, Derek Kent.

“We have a bright future across both codes with Paul and Davy at the helm and with excellent work being done at underage in our schools and clubs.”

“We are excited to have Zurich, who have become embedded in the Wexford community, alongside us on the next phase of our journey as we aim for continued success at all levels of Wexford GAA”.

Gain Animal Nutrition have been supporters of Wexford GAA since 2014.  Tech company Innovate are the sponors of Innovate Wexford Park, the county ground.
