Setanta MSLSetanta Sports kicked off the new Premier League Season with exclusive Irish rights to Man United and Swansea on Saturday, via its partnership with BT Sport, and also revealed a new extended sponsorship deal with MSL Motor Group.

It is a fourth year of partnership between the broadcaster and the group which sells new and used cars from Hyundai, Volkswagen, Skoda, Mercedes and Mazda.

Surged

Car sales have surged in 2014 with 10,000 more new cars sold through the first seven months of the year than in the whole of 2013.  On a year on year comparison sales are ahead by 30%.

Skoda will receive a boost with it’s sponsorship of Tipperary GAA after the county secured a first All Ireland Final appearance since 2011 after a bloodless victory over Cork yesterday.

Hyundai will still be feeling a benefit from their sponsorship at the World Cup, including the broadcast sponsorship of RTE Sport’s output.  Volkswagen is also heavily involved in sports sponsorship through relationships with the IRFU, Leinster Rugby and a host of Airtricity Premier League Clubs.

Revenue

Broadcast sponsorship has been identified as a key revenue stream by Setanta, whose Irish channel celebrated a tenth anniversary last Thursday.
