As a Rugby Coach at Rockwell College, Polly Murphy has nurtured the talents of many current and former players; most notably the current Aer Lingus ambassador, Dorothy Wall, as well as Munster players Kate Flannery and Beth Buttimer.

She was recently recognised at the IRFU Spirit of Rugby Volunteer awards, after being nominated by Rockwell College principal, Audrey O’Byrne, for playing an “instrumental role in shaping the rugby landscape at our school, dedicating countless hours to fostering talent and promoting the sport among our students.”

To celebrate her contributions, an unsuspecting Polly was invited by Aer Lingus to Dublin Airport under the guise that she is taking part in a video to celebrate this year’s Guiness Women’s Six Nations.

Unbeknownst to Polly, her husband Andrew had already packed her bag and passport as she was soon to find out that in fact, she would be flying with the team to Twickenham to watch Ireland take on England!

When the moment arrives and she is presented with the tickets, Polly is both shocked and excited as she realises what Aer Lingus has arranged for her to thank her for her years of support of women’s rugby

“I’m shocked and delighted to have been chosen for this wonderful surprise. Thanks to Aer Lingus for giving me the opportunity to bring Home Advantage to Twickenham this weekend, I can’t wait to cheer on the team in person.”

Ireland play England at 2-15 PM on Saturday afternoon at Twickenham with the game being televised live on Virgin Media for those unable to make the trip.
