Marathon Events Management, organisers of some of Ireland’s largest running events, has appointed 1920 Worldwide as the exclusive commercial agent for its entire portfolio, including the Irish Life Dublin Marathon, the Irish Life Race Series, and the newly launched Dublin City Half Marathon.
The partnership signals a major step in the long-term commercial strategy for these signature events, and will include a new Premium Level partnership sitting just below the title rights.
Irish Life’s sponsorship of the Dublin Marathon was last years’s European Sponsorship of the Year.
The appointment of 1920 Worldwide — also a Sport for Business member — will introduces a new commercial structure that includes different levels of partnership across the group calendar of events, which collectively attract over 50,000 runners each year and reach even more through digital and in-person audiences.
Race Director Jim Aughney said the timing was ideal following a successful period of growth, highlighted by the sell-out launch of the Dublin City Half Marathon in March 2025, which welcomed 12,500 runners in under two hours.
“With the Dublin City Half Marathon launch and continued demand for our events, we’re entering an exciting new phase,” he said. “We’re introducing a premium partner level and collaborating with 1920 Worldwide to shape the next chapter of our commercial story.”
The Irish Life Dublin Marathon and its accompanying Race Series have long been staples of the national running calendar, drawing amateur and elite runners alike, and generating significant attention from sponsors, supporters, and the public.
“We’re excited to work with Jim and his team to evolve their commercial approach,” added Gavin McAllister, Managing Director of 1920 Worldwide (Ireland).
“With three flagship events now in place, there’s a year-round platform for brands to engage with runners through participation, purpose, and performance.”
Galvin Sports Management will continue to handle media outreach for the events.
