Google Doodle World CupIt was the tournament that made millions fall back in love with Soccer.  Now the World Cup is over and life will return to normal without the daily punctuation of live games, real time and online conversation and the collective gathering that brings together families, friends and the whole world around a single event.  It will also mean a return to basics for the Google home page which has excelled as a soccer fan itself over the past four weeks…

Red Influence

Black Cards in Gaelic Games have been a major talking point of 2014 but it was three red cards, two for Clare and one for Tyrone that ultimately meant the end of the road for reigning All Ireland Champions Clare and former ones in Tyrone over the weekend.  There was little question over any of them though Davy Fitzgerald’s interview on radio after Wexford’s win on Saturday may have skated fairly close to a reprimand, despite his admitting it was ‘probably best to say nothing.’
