RoryMcIlroy_Stephen-1Planning and discipline are the keys to a successful video or photo shoot with an athlete according to Stephen Quinn of Atomic Sport in the latest edition of Sports Pro magazine.

The Dublin based agency has worked with Rory McIlroy, Graham McDowell, and World Cup international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

It also produced a series of behind the scenes videos for the Irish Sports Council on what it takes to prepare to be a champion.

In the article Quinn highlights eight golden rules of what to do and not to do on a shoot with a sports star, all aimed at helping brands and agencies get the best from the limited time they may have available.

These include doubling the time you have a crew available for so that all the angles and shots can be rehearsed with a stand in first and the creative problems ironed out before the star arrives.

Getting to know the athlete beforehand, and finding what they are comfortable with and not is also a critical part of building a relationship that will shine through.
