The deal will run across all platforms including RTÉ television, RTÉ radio and RTÉ Digital online and mobile.
RTÉ Sport’s coverage of the tournament gets underway next Thursday and will include the live broadcast of all 64 matches across RTÉ Two HD and online on RTÉ.ie and RTÉ Player.
“Offering cut-through across all platforms under one brand is RTÉ’s unique offering,” said Dermot Rigley, Commercial Manager for RTÉ Sport.
“The FIFA World Cup remains on terrestrial free-to-air television and Hyundai Ireland has secured a powerful association with FIFA World Cup across all of RTÉ’s market-leading platforms. This partnership is a great endorsement of RTÉ Sport’s output and its powerful audience reach. We’re delighted to welcome Hyundai Ireland on board”.
“We are delighted to bring the global Hyundai brand association with the 2014 FIFA World Cup to Ireland and the Irish consumer,” added Sarah Hayes, Marketing Manager of Hyundai Ireland.
“Hyundai is now Ireland’s fastest growing car brand and this partnership with RTÉ Sport demonstrates the huge investment in Ireland behind the Hyundai brand and its product range. The partnership is also perfectly timed to coincide with the new 142 July registration plate”.
Hyundai Ireland’s broadcast sponsorship includes the Hyundai logo appearing on the match clock on screen for the duration of each game. This is a first for such an ‘always on’ sponsor association.
The brand will also have stings and advertising at the breaks of all matches on radio and TV and exclusive brand association with the various digital offerings including online and mobile.
Hyundai has an 8% market share in Ireland behind only Volkswagen, Toyota and Ford. It has a dealer network of 30 around the country.
This is its first major local sponsorship within sport. On a global basis it is involved at the highest level with soccer, cricket, golf, rallying and skiing.
RTE Sport and Toyota are full members of the Sport for Business community. Discover more about membership here.
