“We are elated to win this award against some very tough competition,” said National Sports Campus CEO David Conway.
“It is testament to the work that our staff put in year on year and reward for the investment we’re continuously making to ensure we have the highest class facilities available to our members and the general public.”
“I’d like to praise all of our staff for their input, dedication and commitment made across all Departments. This award is a great source of pride for all of our staff and is very appreciative in the overall context of the National Sports Campus.”
The Aquatic Centre has long been the most obvious facility at the Campus but that is changing all the time as new facilities have come on stream. Work on the national indoor arena featuring a full athletics track is underway and work has also begun on both the FAI and GAA centres.
A feasibility study is underway for a facility to include badminton courts and an indoor velodrome while show jumping and multi sports areas are already open and active.
Much like Ireland’s national road network, the Campus is a major capital project that gets bigger and better each year without making a huge splash with a showpiece event.
The Aquatic Centre was always seen as one of the key facilities that would open the Campus up to the public and deliver revenue streams. To be recognised as the best of its kind in Ireland is a notable achievement.
