Our Digital Sport conference was a real success yesterday with a wide range of thought provoking sessions on social media, innovation, and video content followed by two great keynotes from Brian Keating of AIB and Denis Crushell of You Tube.

Some of our initial favourite soundbites from each of the speakers included:
Darragh Rea, Edelman – A social campaign around an event should be 80% planned and 20% reactive to the moment. Though you can plan for those moments that ‘might’ happen such as Paul O’Connell making a big hit tackle.
James Cluskey, Tennis Pro – Making it to the semi final of his last tournament in Uzbekistan earned James, the highest ranked doubles tennis player in Irish history, the princely sum of €500. The Ferrari order is on hold for now.
Rebecca Hocking, GAA – The GAA looked like it was building slowly in social but the foundations were very solid. There are now 170,000 followers on twitter and each county was given it’s own social toolkit.
Stephen Quinn, Atomic – The questions before a video are the most crucial element of making them great. ‘What do want them to feel?’
His favourite video from outside the Atomic showreel was this from Nike…
Philippe Brodeur, AERTV – Gave us 12 key insights to video and online streaming and this emotional video from Brazil on the power of sport.
Múirne Laffan, RTÉ Digital – In their first season from June to September GAAGo signed up paying customers in 157 countries around the world. That’s reach,
Brian Reynolds, Balls.ie – The home page of the website is almost redundant. People are coming in through side doors, from Facebook and What’s App in the main.
Lyndsey Irwin, Sotic Digital Agency – The next generation of websites will closer resemble the Google presentation of interest that is determined by the user.
We will have more detailed reviews of the presentations and interviews with Brian Keating of AIB and Denis Crushell of You Tube in our Sport for Business Members’ Sunday Supplement.
