The GAA has secured another long term extension with one of its key Championship sponsors as SuperValu has announced its continued support of the All-Ireland GAA Football Championship until 2019.
“We’re delighted to have renewed our sponsorship of the All-Ireland GAA Football Championship for a further four years,” said Martin Kelleher , Managing Director of SuperValu.
“Having worked closely with the GAA for more than six years now, we strongly believe that the partnership between our healthy, nutritious, home cooking ethos twinned with the GAA’s ongoing contribution towards creating active communities is the perfect match.”
“As we prepare to throw in for another season, we look forward to another four years working together.”
When SuperValu considered its local sponsorship programmes four years ago it discovered that 70 per cent of local managers marketing and community support was steering towards GAA clubs so the decision to invest centrally had a clear grounding in what was happening among the store owners and managers.
The rolling out of ticketing through tickets.ie to stores has also been a strong tie binding the sport and the brand together, giving a differentiator and ‘reason to go’ for fans.
SuperValu also announced yesterday that it was renewing its popular Kit for Kids Reward scheme through 130 stores around the country. Read more about the 2016 scheme here.
The brand is linking in its overall food promotion campaign theme by bringing Dublin GAA Senior Football and Leinster Rugby Performance Nutritionist Daniel Davey onto the team for this year as well.
Davey has come on board as a SuperValu ambassador for the season and will develop a nutritional booklet specifically designed for all levels of player. The booklets will include dietary information, tips, recipes and much more. Inter-county players will also host a number of nutritional talks in stores across Ireland over the summer months which will be open to all ages with a keen interest in sport.
