Electric Ireland has started a major TV, print, online and outdoor advertising campaign in support of its sponsorship of Team Ireland at the Olympics.  A collection of 15 second sting adverts bearing the tagline ‘Ireland’s Energy, Ireland’s Team’ can be viewed on the brand’s facebook page.
Lisa Kearney from Judo, Martyn Irvine of Cycling, Darren O’Neill and Michael Conlon from the boxing ring are featured alongside track and field stars Deirdre Ryan, Linda Byrne, Mark Kenneally and David Gillick.
Electric Ireland launched a get energised campaign 150 days out from the games and before that installed a countdown clock at its Dublin HQ 200 days before the opening ceremony on July 27th.  That has already become a popular photography stop for passers by in Dublin.
The latest and largest element of the support campaign makes things more personal to the athletes with Deirdre Ryan’s poster bearing the phrase ‘She’s jumped over 4,000 metres in training.  2 metres will make her a legend.’
In the maelstrom of the games themselves there will be winners and losers at a dizzying rate but in advance every competitor has the potential to become a hero and the campaign taps well into that sense of national pride.
