This Thursday and Friday the Bus Éireann sponsored National Hurling and Camogie Féile arrives in Dublin. The tournament brings together county champions at U14 level to come, stay, play and make friends beyond the team colours.
The Féile is one of the biggest children’s participation events of the year and as many as 4,000 are expected to participate in a parade on Thursday evening from Croke Park to O’Connell Street. It is the first time in 30 years that the capital has hosted the tournament and clubs across the city will be putting on a show.
Féile holds a special place being the first national competition that players will have played in and it regularly appears as one of the best memories of gaelic games for players that might go on to inter county fame later in their playing development.
Bus Éireann is in the second year of its support for the event and will be evident for the Finals at Croke Park and Parnell Park on Saturday as well as through 4,000 flags at the parade. Many teams will arrive in Dublin on its services and the company is also promoting its involvement through social media.
“Féile is a wonderful event,” said spokesman Andres McLindon. “We were in Laois and Offaly for the Football event two weeks ago, and to have the event return to Dublin, with finals in Croke Park and a parade down O’Connell Street is a special occasion for everyone involved.”
“Bus Éireann is at the heart of communities throughout the country and we have always supported local sporting and community events. We would like to wish the organising committee, officials, clubs participating teams and everyone involved the very best of luck.”
